Review of Focus Group Processes
The group discussed their recent participation as focus groups in the strategic planning and human resources review processes. Consensus was that this was a constructive means of providing input, and that the advanced notice of these sessions enabled SAC members to present issues brought to their attention from the campus community.
Ideas & Issues List
Council members reviewed and prioritized ideas and issues to focus upon during the upcoming year. The following areas were identified as being the most critical:
- Salaries
- Health Insurance Premiums and Coverage
- Paid Time Off Policies
- Communication
Membership Committee
Due to time constraints, Dr. Cullinan will communicate via e-mail with Council members regarding the establishment of a committee to review and recommend Staff Advisory Council membership policies.
Other Business
An update was provided on the upcoming Artisans’ Fair, where Wake Forest employees, retirees, and students will display and sell their work. There will be a campus-wide mailing announcing the event, which will be held in the Benson Center on December 1 from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
There was discussion regarding the Council members’ role as they receive requests for assistance from the campus community. It was noted that all personnel-related issues should be referred to Human Resources, and Dr. Cullinan is available to assist in evaluating issues.
The next meeting of the Staff Advisory Council will be held prior to the holiday break, and members will be contacted to find a convenient date.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:40 p.m.
