Support Our Neighbors: Join the SAC Food Bank Drive and Volunteer Effort
The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) invites you to join a critical mission this holiday season: fighting food insecurity across the Triad and Charlotte regions by supporting the Second Harvest Foodbank locations in these areas.
Food insecurity is a hidden crisis that touches every community, including our own. While we gather for the holidays, many families, children, and seniors in our communities are making agonizing choices between paying for utilities, healthcare, or putting food on the table. This is not a distant problem—it’s a challenge faced by our neighbors.
- Growing Demand: Food banks like Second Harvest are seeing unprecedented demand. Inflation and economic pressures mean more working families are turning to these resources for the first time.
- The Power of Partnership: Your donation doesn’t just feed one person; it fuels an entire network of support.
How You Can Participate: Donate Today
Between November 17 and December 19, please drop off non-perishable food items at the designated collection points within your area. Essential items include canned proteins (tuna, chicken), peanut butter, pasta, rice, and canned vegetables. Donation boxes can be found in the following buildings: Charlotte Center, Farrell Hall, HS Moore, Reynolda Hall, UCC, Wake Downtown, and Worrell.
Go Hands-On: Volunteer with the SAC
If you want to make an active, tangible difference, we are organizing a day to work at the food banks in January or February 2026. Volunteering is a powerful way to see the operation firsthand and contribute your time. If you are interested in joining a volunteer day, please complete this form. Completing this form does not commit you but allows us to gauge interest and determine the best date and location for our group.
Thank You
Your support—whether through donating food, money, or time—makes a direct and significant difference in the lives of those struggling with hunger in our community. Thank you for making this effort a success!
