Staff Advisory Council Meeting Agenda

  • Guest Speaker:  Eric Proctor (Director of HR Office), Workday Communications Chair, and Beth Hoagland, Workday Steering Committee Chair, provided an update on the progress of the Workday implementation.
    • You can view the presentation here.
    • Workday will combine all current systems on campus into one streamlined system (HR, payroll, PTO, etc).
    • All cloud based and mobile optimized
    • Other institutions that currently use it: Brown, Cornell, Georgetown, LSU, OSU, and Yale
    • Timeline: Currently in the Configure and Prototype Phase will estimation completion of July 2018

  • Guest Speaker:  Shannon Araya, from Human Resources, discussed upcoming changes with the benefits package.
    • Annual benefits enrollment is May 3-10 and can be completed online. An email will be sent out later this month with more details.
    • 403(b) Auto Enrollment: Current staff that is not already contributing to their 403(b) will be auto enrolled beginning July 1, 2017. The auto enrollment is set to 5% of their salary, however an opt-out feature is available.
    • Events and Resources: Benefits updates will be presented April 24-26. Look for the Streakin’ Deacon around campus on May 3 and May 8 to learn more about our benefits updates!

  • We were unable to record our meeting on YouTube this month.  We plan to remedy that for our next meeting.
  • Guest Speaker:  Sarah Tooley, CARE Team Case Manager and August Vernon, Emergency Manager and CARE Team Co-Chair shared a presentation on the CARE Team.
    • Full presentation can be seen here.
    • The Campus Assessment, Response & Evaluation Team works to keep the campus safe by addressing disruptive, troubling or threatening behavior by students, employees and visitors.
    • The Team uses a repetitive approach to gather information, develop a response and then evaluate the response.
    • The Team is not equipped as a crisis response mechanism but is instead a valuable resource for our community to provide caring outreach.
    • The PDC provides a class on the CARE Team approximately two times each semester.

  • Guest Speaker:  Dr. Rebecca Alexander provided an update on Wake Downtown, now that classes have started for the Spring 2017 semester.
    • Full Presentation can be seen here.
    • Bailey Power Plant is also being renovated with plans to add food, retail, etc to Wake Downtown
    • New degree programs that were launched:
      • Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery
      • Biochemistry Molecular Biology
      • Engineering (courses will start Fall 2017)
    • Many of the spaces downtown will be added to DeaconSpace for study rooms and meeting spaces.
    • Currently have 281 students enrolled in courses at Wake Downtown and 9 fulltime faculty/research positions.
